About the Project
Williams' new Multipurpose Recreation Center (The MRC) will serve as the temporary home for indoor athletic practices, intramural sports and other recreational activities, all of which were displaced after Towne Field House closed unexpectedly in the spring of 2023.
A pre-engineered metal structure, the MRC will feature a three-lane, 200-meter track, four tennis courts, practice space for the baseball and softball teams, as well as a 40-foot climbing wall. The facility will also include restrooms, storage space, a small athletic training room and a team room.
With a target completion date in late 2025, the facility was designed by the Boston office of the global architectural firm CannonDesign and is being constructed by Suffolk Construction. Concurrent with the MRC project, the college has begun a comprehensive programming study to explore athletics, recreation and well-being campuswide, more details can be found here.

Safety: Our Top Priority
Our No. 1 priority on the jobsite is that everyone goes home safe and sound. Lives depend on advancements in site safety, so we’re challenging the traditional approach. By leveraging data, predictive analytics, artificial intelligence and partnerships with innovative startups, we’re identifying in real time where risk exists on jobsites and how we can eliminate that risk.
Our trade partners are crucial in building a strong safety culture, and we’re grateful that they share our core value of caring for others on site. Hear from a few of our trade partners about what it means to value every voice on
a project.
